Structural Surveys and Inspections

Ensuring a property’s structural integrity is a top priority for all owners, occupiers, and potential purchasers, which is why JCSD is delighted to offer professional, cost-effective structural surveys on both commercial and residential properties.

With more than 35 years’ experience and Chartered Engineer status since 1995, we have extensive knowledge of the industry and routinely carry out detailed structural surveys on a range of different property types. Read on to learn more about our structural surveys and structural engineering services

Designed to assess a property’s structural integrity, a structural survey will tell you whether a property is safe to reside in or use. Furthermore, a structural survey can highlight potential issues that could pose a safety risk in the future. In addition to this, our structural surveys contain detailed information regarding remedial works that may be required to make the property safe.

The safety of a property is paramount, which is why structural surveys are a critical method of due diligence and a key compliance tool.

As well as undertaking full structural surveys, JCSD is also on hand to complete specific defect surveys, as required. If a previous building survey has identified a potential issue or you have concerns about one aspect of your property, for example, a specific defect survey can help to allay your fears or confirm what work is required.

At JCSD, we undertake structural surveys on behalf of homebuyers, property owners, developers, and construction firms. If you’re planning to purchase a residential property, for example, you may require a structural survey to confirm its condition and safety.

Alternatively, a structural survey may be required before renovation or extension plans can get underway. If so, our structural survey can be accompanied by technical drawings and plans that can be used to accelerate the project and assist in the redesign process.

Whether you’re buying your dream home, planning a commercial redevelopment, or modifying an existing property, JCSD’s structural surveys make it easy to access the critical information you need.

Focusing on the key elements of a property, such as its foundations, floors, walls, roof and structural frame, a structural survey is invaluable when it comes to determining a building’s safety. However, a structural survey won’t simply tell you if a building is ‘safe’ or ‘unsafe’, it will provide detailed guidance regarding any essential remedial works, as well as any works that may need to be carried out in the future.
